Kolkata : The West Bengal Orthopaedic Association (WBOA), a large professional body with more than 800 active members joined hand by organizing awareness webinar in auspicious presence of Minister Rajib Banerjee, Prof. R C Meena President IOA, Dr Atul Srivatsava, Hon. Secretary IOA, Dr Prof C De, President WBOA, Dr Partha Sarathi Sarkar, Secretary WBOA and others along with legendary singer Smt Haimanti Shukla and noted musician Smt Subhamita Banerjee.
On this occasion, Dr Partha Sarathi Sarkar, Secretary WBOA said “This year we are celebrating National Bone & Joint Day like previous years. Though we are facing tough times for this COVID 19 pandemic, still we should keep an eye on the wellbeing of bones & muscles of our body. This year we are focusing on the theme of Prevention of deformity in Degenerative Disease to reduce the cases of deformity in bones due to decadent illness.”
This year, the organization has come up with a few courses of actions starting from 1st August and would continue till 7th August. Looking over the current pandemic scenario, WBOA handed over INR 5lakhs (INR Five lakhs only) to Minister Mr Rajib Banerjee for CM’s relief fund in addition to previous contribution to same fund of INR 10lakhs (INR Ten lakhs only) on 17.06.20.
All the city clubs and Society in different parts of West Bengal including Burdwan Ortho Club, Siliguri Ortho Society, Barasat Ortho Club, Kolkata Orthopaedic Socity, East Kolkata Ortho Club, Berhampur Ortho Society, Durgapur Ortho Club and others are also vividly participating these week-long activities by maintaining social distancing. Today, at Howrah Ortho Club a free COVID Antibody test took place for front line health workers and police personnel. “Apart from this activity, patient awareness social media campaigns, COVID Kits distribution to Police Stations and Old-age homes are also planned as a part of the celebration” stated Dr Sarkar. He also mentioned “Proper diet, right food habit, weight management only can control the deformity of bones”.
